A: At least 18 years of age with Valid drivers license. You have to be  21 years of age to cross over state lines in the commercial vehicle.

Q: CAN I ATTEND CLASSES AROUND MY WORK or OTHER IMPORTANT OBLIGATIONS?

A: We do offer flexible schedules, as long as we know in advance what days you are able to attend classes or what days work better for you, We can accommodate you.

A:   Class B license also allows operation of different types vehicles such as straight trucks and dump trucks, but it is more limiting than a Class A CDL. The differences between the types of CDLs relates to the types of vehicles and the weight of the vehicles, particularly the load that the vehicles will be hauling. 

• Getting a Class A CDL entitles you to operate a combination of vehicles — such as a semi-tractor and trailer — with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 26,001 pounds or more. It also entitles you to haul a trailer that weighs 10,000 pounds or more. Special endorsements can be obtained for hauling specific types of cargo, such as hazardous materials. The following types of vehicles may be driven with a Class A:
  • Tractor-trailer, also known as a semi, big rig or 18-wheeler
  • Truck and trailer combinations, including double and triple trailers
  • Tractor trailer buses
  • Tanker vehicles
  • Flatbed vehicles
  • Most Class B and Class C vehicles, depending on endorsement requirement

   

• A Class B CDL lets you drive a single vehicle weighing 26,001 pounds or more without a trailer. It also allows you to operate any vehicle towing a trailer that weighs less than 10,000 pounds. The following types of vehicles may be driven with a Class B:
  • Straight trucks
  • Large buses, such as city buses, tourist buses and school buses
  • Segmented buses
  • Box trucks, including delivery trucks and furniture trucks
  • Dump trucks with small trailers
  • Some Class C vehicles with the correct endorsements

A: Having your permit prior to starting class is always preferred. If you pay out of pocket it is NOT mandatory. We will prep you for your permit.  If you finance your class it IS MANDATORY that you have your Permit before starting class.

A: As long as you have a Valid Drivers License we can train you. Some companies hire based on how good or bad your driving record is or whether you have a negative or plus driving record. Yes some companies may be more strict and some may not be as strict. As long as you don't have 3 or more reckless driving or multiple DUI's/DWI's in the last 3 years you are employable.

A: Yes we do. We have a few out of the100's of Companies we work with that have Recruiters from Local to Over The Road that come in and meet with our students through the duration of their training. Some do pre-hire assessments , some give applications and some wait for us to refer you to them. We have great paying local companies for those that want to stay local and we have OTR companies with great benefits as well. The choice is yours ultimately and we are here to guide you in the right direction.  95% of the trucking companies we partnered with offer tuition reimbursement so that you can get the money back you invested for your CDL training. Just tell us what your looking for and we do the rest.

A: On Site at the school.  We are certified as 3rd Party testers. We administer the General Knowledge test, and the Behind the wheel Skills Test (CDL TESTING), on site. We have a Licensed Examiner who tests you to make sure you can accurately & safely operate the Commercial Vehicle. Once you pass the test you will have your CDL.

Q: WHAT PERCENTAGE OF STUDENTS OBTAIN EMPLOYMENT AFTER GRADUATION?

A: 99% of our students obtain employment after completing the course. 1% don't do the footwork to obtain employment. We will refer you to our company recruiters to jump start the hiring process. Some companies offer tuition  reimbursement as well.

Q: WHAT IS  THE GRADUATION RATE AT 5 STAR CDL ?

A: 97%- As long as you come to class everyday, you will graduate with no problem, if your missing days and or weeks you may have trouble keeping up with the training, which will result in failing the Road Test. Make a long story short. COME TO CLASS AND YOU WILL PASS!!

Q: HOW OFTEN DO YOU ALL START CLASSES?

A:  We start a new class bi-weekly, with having smaller classes they fill up quicker so it depends on the seat vacancy.  Flexible start dates available, as well as flexible schedules.

Q: CAN I OBTAIN A CDL WITH A RESTRICTED LICENSE?

A: NO! YOU HAVE TO HAVE A VALID LICENSE THAT IS NOT SUSPENDED, REVOKED OR RESTRICTED.

Q: I HAVE A CLASS B LICENSE, BUT NOW I WANT A CLASS A LICENSE, DO I HAVE TO TAKE THE WHOLE CLASS A COURSE?

A: YES! THE CLASS B COURSE IS A SMALLER VEHICLE, AND A CLASS A IS  2 VEHICLES (TRACTOR-TRAILER) . CLASS A IS A COMBINATION VEHICLE, CLASS B IS A STRAIGHT TRUCK. YOU HAVE DIFFERENT LAWS WITH A CLASS A, DIFFERENT CURRICULUM, AND TO SOME IT UP, IT'S A MORE DANGEROUS VEHICLE TO OPERATE SO PROPER TRAINING IS REQUIRED. 

Q: IF I OBTAIN MY CLASS A, DO I HAVE TO DRIVE OVER THE ROAD OR CAN I FIND A LOCAL JOB?

A: WE HAVE PLENTY OF LOCAL JOB OFFERS ON OUR JOB BOARDS, IF YOU WANT TO DRIVE LOCALLY, WE WILL ASSIST YOU ON OBTAIN A LOCAL JOB. IF YOU WANT TO WORK OVER THE ROAD, THEN THAT'S WHAT YOU SHOULD DO. EITHER WAY IT'S YOUR CHOICE.
